I know I was away for far too long. I don't know what it is about pregnancy that makes me not want to do anything...especially if it is on the computer. Between checking email (which I am not as on top of as I used to be), the 8 week course I teach online, and the evil time waster called facebook, I do not want to do one.more.thing. on the computer. Oh...not to mention the 75 blogs that I keep up with...granted, only about 20 post on a regular basis...AND editing pictures! Whew! I guess it is not just the pregnancy that keeps me from posting!
All that to say...I AM BACK! I am promising to back post everyday until I get caught up. I CANNOT get anymore behind (and my behind cannot get any bigger...but that's another topic!) because Baby Girl is on the way and I NEED to post about her. So, get ready for a flood of hilarious posts. Luke is so funny these days and says the craziest things. I cannot wait to tell you about it. Don't get me wrong, he is a stinker, too! The fits of the terrible two's are definitely here...if I hear 'I want' one more time I think I will scream...makes me not ever want to pray and ask God for anything because I know how it feels to hear whiny children say, 'I want...I want...I want...'. HA! But I digress and will try to focus on the positives....

Just to give you a taste of the discipline that goes on around here, I just heard him talking to his train:

Luke: Hey train! You need to stay on the track!
Train: no response
Luke: Train? Will you obey me?
Train: no response
Luke: OH! That's great, train, just great! (Sincerely excited that the train obviously said yes to obeying Luke!)

Singing in the rain in the car

While we were in Houston for the MS150, we stayed with Uncle Charlie, Aunt Brook, Jack, and Ella. Luke LOVED staying with them and 'playing with Jack's toys'. One of Jack's toys...his microphone...(surprise, surprise)...was Luke's favorite! The video below is of his solo in the car. Enjoy!

MS150

Just about every year since David was 12, he and his dad ride in the MS150. There are years that one or both cannot participate. But, for the most part every effort is made to make it to 'the ride'. The event has grown by leaps and bounds and is beginning to be too big. So, 2009 may be the last year for David to ride in the MS150. To commemorate this event, 5 of the G men road this year; David, Charlie, Dad, Uncle Rick and Cousin James. Todd was the sag wagon like last year. He does a great job of being the 'Team Sidekick'! Unfortunately, for the first time in 25 years, the ride was canceled on Saturday due to rain....rain in Houston? What? Never!...

When we arrived at Charlie and Brook's, it was close to 10pm. Of course, Luke did not fall asleep until we were 30 minutes away from their house. We let him sleep in the car as we unloaded and set up the room. We brought him in and all got ready for bed. His 40 minute cat nap was enough to make him not want to.sleep.at.all! Needless to say, I did not sleep much that night.

The sharing-a-room-with-a-two-year-old-in-a-strange-room play by play:
11:30pm - Finally asleep!

1am - Stands up in the pack-n-play and says, "Mommy, where's Uncle Charlie?" "He's asleep, honey, like everyone else. Please go back to sleep." Lays back down.

3:30am - L: Mommy, I'm ready to get up now. I just woke up. Good Morning!
M: Luke, we are all still sleeping. It is not time to get up yet. See, it's still dark outside.
L: Awe...I may never get out of here!

6:00am - L: I just woke up! Good Morning!
M&D: UGH!!

We (i use this term loosely because David never hears anything while he's sleeping) had little sleep that night, but the weekend was wonderful so that didn't matter much! It was a great time to gather as a family! Luke had a ton of fun with the 'cuzins' and we enjoyed the family time, as well.

Way to go, guys! You are amazing!

It's a....

GIRL!!

We saw the sonogram Wednesday. It was not a 3 or 4 D sono, but it was performed on a really nice machine by a doctor instead of a tech. Because of that, we felt more assured of his reading. I mean, come on...his JOB is to look at films all.day.long! His actual words were, 'Well, I am not supposed to say 100%, but clearly there is an absence...'... if you get my drift.

They checked the lip and saw no signs of a cleft lip. Praise God! He looked at Luke's picture and explained why they missed his cleft lip. He also showed a sono picture of someone thought to have had a cleft lip, but did not. It all has to do with planes and how deep or shallow the picture is...very interesting. What a relief! Everything else looks good, too! He even commented that 'she has a pretty little brain'...whatever that means!

We were so impressed by him! (Maybe because he was also an Aggie.) He made a picture of the baby with her thumb up...clearly flashing a Gig 'Em to us! Luke heard him say Gig' Em and started singing the Hullabaloo Caneck Caneck...pretty funny and cute!

We CANNOT WAIT to meet her!!

Wild Olive Tees

Most of you know that I LOVE creative Ts. I think I have almost ALL of cutting-up's shirts. Well, I just read Pioneer Woman's post and fell.in.love with some Ts she mentioned. See the Wild Olive link to the side and check them out! Granted, I'm prego and can't wear them until September, but am thinking about buying one to be my 'back to pre-baby weight' incentive! My favorites are 'Rooted' and 'Transform your Mind'. Let me know what you think. I hope you love them, too!

Luke is 2!

Happy Birthday to you...Happy Birthday to you...Happy Birthday, dear Lukey...Happy Birthday to you!

Luke turned the big 2 on Sunday. We celebrated first by going to Chuck E. Cheese with Aunt Donna, Uncle Mark, Haley and Will. Luke had a great time and keeps asking, 'Where did Chuck E. Cheese go?' On his actual birthday, we church and had lunch with Gramma. She brought 'choclit cupcakes' for Luke and a fun musical card that he just loved. That evening we went to our first home group meeting with our church. It was a pot luck dinner so I made cupcakes to take for Luke's birthday. The group was so sweet. They all sang Happy Birthday to him. He hammed it up and loved every minute! The cupcakes were a hit, too, so I decided to make them for his actual birthday party...I know, 70? Are you crazy?? Yep! But I cannot tell you how much I loathe the icing on store bought cupcakes and I couldn't bring myself to buy Costco's mammoth cupcakes.
Luke's party was the following Saturday. We had it at a really big park and rented the pavilion! It was a nice day, but the wind was seriously out.of.control! It created a literal typhoon under the pavilion roof. Drove everyone crazy. Thank goodness for duct tape! We managed to tape the table cloths down. There were truck center pieces that would just roll off...annoying! My paper plate actually broke in half while I was holding it because the wind was so rough. I eventually gave up and just laughed about it. If anyone thinks that Chicago is really the 'windy city', I'd like to bring them to our humble abode and debate that label!
The party was great fun and the kids loved the park. I packed lunches for all the kids and we brought in Jersey Mike's for the adults. It was a great birthday and Luke had a great time. You could really tell that he was proud of his birthday and that he was 2!
